David Bruer is a genuine legend and pioneer in organic & sustainable practices, and today alongside winemaker Verity Cowley, they continue to have an unwavering focus on doing the best by Mother Earth, EVERY SINGLE DAY, and making wines that truly honour the fruit harvested.
IT ALL STARTED IN 1973
From their original Langhorne Creek property purchased in 1973, Temple Bruer have now added quality vineyards in Eden Valley, Moorook, and Loxton over the last decade. They are all, of course, fully certified as A-GRADE Organic by NASAA.
Happy healthy soils are the foundation that all their wines are built from, capturing nature at its best, and eschewing any artificial chemicals from vineyard to bottle.
SO MUCH HAS BEEN ACHIEVED, BUT THERE IS MORE TO COME
Temple Bruer is still one of the few Australian wineries to be both 100% Certified Organic and Carbon Neutral, having achieved carbon neutrality in 2011 through purchasing carbon offsets. But they are not stopping there, they want to push the boundaries further by becoming carbon-neutral in their own right (without having to purchase carbon offsets) by increasing their generation of renewable electricity and developing their own innovative biochar program (pic below) using a “weed” called Arundo Donax.
