Tamburlaine – A Pioneer of Australian Organic Wine
Tamburlaine was established in 1966 and has been led by winemaker and managing director Mark Davidson since 1985. Over the following decades, the winery became one of the early Australian producers to make organic viticulture a central part of its identity.
Tamburlaine describes its approach as Contemporary Organics – combining certified organic farming with modern vineyard management and winemaking. The focus is on producing wines that deliver quality, varietal character and value.
Organic Vineyards in Orange and the Hunter Valley
Tamburlaine’s vineyards extend across two distinctive New South Wales wine regions. The Hunter Valley provides warm growing conditions and a long-established wine culture, while the higher-altitude vineyards of Orange experience a cooler climate.
This gives Tamburlaine access to a broad range of varieties and wine styles, from fresh aromatic whites through to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and sparkling wine.
Organic vineyard practices focus on building healthy soils and resilient vines while avoiding synthetic herbicides, pesticides and fertilisers. It is an approach designed to support vineyard health, biodiversity and long-term sustainability.
