Tasting Notes
Aromatics lift with boysenberry, dark cherry and blueberry, layered with warm spice and a faint floral note. The palate is medium weighted and smooth, with bright fruit at the core and fine tannins that feel polished rather than drying. It finishes clean and energetic, with subtle oak providing shape and a gentle savoury edge.
Winemaking
Fruit is picked from Yangarra’s estate blocks, destemmed and sorted into stainless steel open fermenters. Fermentation is wild, followed by a gentle 15-day maceration on skins to build flavour and fine structure without heaviness. The wine is then matured on lees in older French oak puncheons and foudre for 11 months, before bottling in February 2025.
Vineyard & Vintage
From the cooler, elevated north-east of McLaren Vale at Blewitt Springs, where the ancient North Maslin Sands soils and altitude encourage perfume, freshness and line. In 2024, winter rainfall set up healthy canopies; the season swung warmer through late summer, bringing the bulk of picking into an intense, concentrated harvest window. The result here is generous flavour held in check by freshness and fine tannin detail.
Why We Love It
Because it’s McLaren Vale Shiraz with the volume turned down and the detail turned up. You get real fruit and spice, but also poise — the kind of wine that works across a whole table, from BBQ smoke to dinner-party plates. It’s also one of those bottles that rewards a light chill, making it as versatile as it is satisfying.
Food Pairing
Perfect with smoky BBQ flavours, lamb, roast chicken, mushrooms and peppery sausages. The bright fruit and fine tannins also suit tomato-based dishes and spiced Mediterranean plates.

Mood or occasion to match this wine…
Your “always works” Shiraz for when you want something confident but not heavy. Serve it slightly cool, set out a few share plates, and it will glide from pre-dinner chats to the last bite. It’s equally happy at a casual BBQ or on a proper dinner table — no overthinking required.
Cellaring
Made for approachability now, but it will hold nicely for 3–6 years. With time, the fruit settles into more savoury spice and earth, while the tannins knit into a softer, more integrated finish.
Producer
Yangarra is a single-vineyard estate situated in Blewitt Springs, at the northern edge of McLaren Vale. Certified biodynamic and organic, the vineyard’s elevation, Mediterranean climate and ancient North Maslin Sands soils are especially well suited to Rhône varieties, producing wines with perfume, structure and a clear sense of place.

FAQ
What does Yangarra Circle Shiraz taste like?
Tart boysenberry, dark cherry and blueberry with warm spice and a faint floral lift. Medium-bodied, smooth and energetic, finishing dry with fine, dialled-down tannins.
Is it sweet or dry?
Dry, with residual sugar under 1 g/L. The fruit feels juicy, but the finish is clean and savoury.
Is it oaky?
It’s matured in older oak, so the influence is subtle — more about shape and texture than obvious vanilla or toast.
Should I serve it chilled?
A light chill works beautifully. Try 10–15 minutes in the fridge to lift the fruit and spice and keep the finish extra refreshing.
Is it biodynamic and vegan?
Yes — it’s certified biodynamic and organic, and vegan-suitable.
Who will love it most?
If you like Shiraz that’s medium-bodied, spicy and fresh (rather than heavy and jammy), this is your lane — especially if you want one red that can do BBQs, weeknight dinners and gatherings with ease.
