Tasting Notes for Yangarra Circle Grenache 2024 from the Winery

The Circle Grenache 2024 is a lively, Nouveau-inspired take on McLaren Vale Grenache, crafted by Peter Fraser and the Yangarra team. Sourced from bush vines in Blewitt Springs, it’s made with organic and biodynamic care, using hand-picking, wild fermentation and a brief maceration before a short élevage in stainless steel and old oak. The wine bursts with wild strawberries, cherry blossom and subtle spice, wrapped in a silky, medium-bodied frame. Bright, expressive and unpretentious, it’s designed for immediate enjoyment, offering freshness, fruit purity and sheer drinkability. Chill it slightly and it becomes a perfect modern Grenache for generous pours.

VINTAGE SUMMARY

The 2024 season began with summer rains that encouraged larger bunches and berry development, followed by heat and a compressed harvest. Warm conditions through February and March accelerated ripening, creating an intense but balanced window for picking. Despite the challenges, the fruit achieved excellent flavour concentration and freshness. The result is a wine full of energy and charm, reflecting both the resilience of the vineyard and the precision of Yangarra’s biodynamic practices. This vintage trades sheer power for vibrancy and balance, making it one of the standout expressions of Grenache in McLaren Vale.

WINEMAKING

Picked, destemmed and sorted into stainless steel open fermenters. Wild fermentation, gentle maceration on skins for 15 days. Matured on lees in old French oak puncheons and foudre for a total of 11 months. Bottled February 2025. Certified Organic and Biodynamic.
