Tasting Notes for Cullen Dancing In The Moonlight Rose 2023 from the Winery 

Life is a dance!!!
A dance between the sun and the moon.
They give to, and circle the earth.
The moon is the most important planet in our biodynamic practice, and the sun gives us life … we honour the moon in the naming of this wine.

Bio-dynamically grown grapes were hand harvested with natural yeast and no further additions. Created using the saignée method for the red grape varieties grown at Cullen Wines.

Some portions of this wine were fermented in stainless steel, barrels and ceramic egg giving good texture and complexity. There has also been some white grape varieties added. A real blend of varieties!

Vintage Notes

Vintage 2023 was a low yielding vintage which yielded some stunning grapes and hence quality wine. In particular Cabernet Sauvignon exhibited the best typicity of varietal manifestation. The 52-year-old vines consistently yield well year-on-year out.

The growing conditions until December were cold and wet and due to the negative Indian dipole and La Niña effects finishing in December 2022 we had an unprecedented dry spell from December until the end of harvest.

Small berry size particularly in white grape varieties produced beautifully balanced wines; Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Chardonnay, Cabernet and Malbec all outstanding.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Argyle diamond rose pink

Cellar: Enjoy now or for up to 10 years and serve chilled.

Bouquet: Strawberries, raspberry, cherry lime, lemon, cut straw

Food: Enjoy with smoked salmon, halloumi, lamb.

Palate: Vibrant juicy fruit, strawberry, lemon sherbet, curry leaf, feijoa, rose, acidity cuts fresh through the vibrant fruit and lingering texture. A wine with lots of personality and fun to enjoy on its own or with your favourite foods.
