PLUM – MULBERRY – ANISE
McLaren Vale Shiraz with real depth: stewed plum, mulberry and dried herbs, plus anise, bramble and a lick of sweet oak. Its dark and juicy on the palate, balanced by grainy tannins and punchy acidity for an opulent-but-composed finish.

Taste Profile
Tasting Notes
Rich and full with red and black fruits up front, then a savoury thread and integrated oak spice through the middle. The palate has real McLaren Vale depth, but the finish stays tidy and medium-bodied rather than heavy.
Winemaking
The winemaking notes describe gentle handling and a measured oak program: the wine is transferred to French oak mid-ferment (mix of older barrels plus about 30% new) and matured for just under 12 months before bottling.
Vineyard & Vintage
Vintage: 2022. McLaren Vale Shiraz built for flavour and balance — not too much oak, not too heavily extracted, and not too alcoholic for the style.
Why We Love It
Because it nails the sweet spot of McLaren Vale Shiraz: generous fruit and spice, with structure that feels polished and food-friendly.
Food Pairing
A brilliant red for roast and grill flavours, peppery dishes, and slow-cooked comfort food.

James Suckling
Aromas of crushed plums, redcurrants, cooking spice and garden herbs. Medium- to full-bodied with slightly chewy tannins. Pleasantly deep without being rich. Rather defined and refreshing. www.jamesuckling.com

The Real Review
Dark and inky in the glass. Brooding aromas of stewed plum, dried herbs, mulberry, anise and spice. Voluminous on the palate, dark and juicy with licorice, bramble and sweet oak. There's balance here though, via grainy textured tannins and bright, punchy acidity. Opulent and smart value.
