Soft pale green/yellow and gleaming. A lively and delicate wine with fresh fruit flavours of crisp apple and nashi pear, lemon rind and grapefruit. The palate delights with apple and peach flavours, crisp, clean and fruit filled on the finish. Perfectly suited as an apertif or match it with Cypriot grain salad.
Tasting notes from the Winery for Angove Organic Pinot Grigio 2020
Angove Organic Pinot Grigio is a single vineyard wine made from grapes grown in our organically certified Nanya Vineyard, near Paringa South Australia.
2020 was a challenging vintage on many fronts. Frosts were followed by windy conditions during flowering and then a hailstorm that ripped through the region causing significant damage in early November just as the vines were hitting their prime ripening period. Thankfully, the Angove Organic Vineyard was spared much of the destruction that occurred elsewhere but yields were still significantly down. Stable, dry conditions occurred from December onwards keeping disease pressure under control and with good canopy management the vines were able to ripen their precious cargo to perfection with harvest beginning in late February and continuing to early March. Whilst yields were significantly down, 2020 will be remembered as a vintage of extremely good quality.
Harvested late at night to ensure they are as cold as possible to minimise spoilage, the grapes were then transported to the winery and pressed immediatley using modern tank presses. After cold setting the clear juice was carefully transferred to cooled fermentation tanks and inoculated with selected yeasts. Cool fermentation was followed by minimal handling, a light filtration and bottling at the Angove organically certified winery.
COLOUR Pale corn husk.
AROMA Soft floral notes with pear, lemon rind and grapefruit.
FLAVOUR These carry through to the palate which is full of crunchy apple and peach with grapefruit and bartlet pear.
CELLAR POTENTIAL 2-3 Years.
HAVE IT WITH ... Cypriot grain salad (V) and grilled, line caught squid.
