Tasting Notes for Villa Maria Earth Garden Rose 2020 from the Winery
This Organic Rosé from our Hawkes Bay Soler and Te Awa Vineyard's showcases summer provoking aromas of blood-orange, strawberry and watermelon. The palate is rich and moreish, finishing refreshingly dry.
Serving Suggestions:
Best served chilled and enjoyed on warm summer days with a fresh alfresco fare. Particularly perfect with smoked salmon and seafood, but just as vibrant with nibbles such as a plant-based grazing board.
Viticulture
Our key focus is to be environmentally responsible and to operate using sustainable practices in order to protect the land for future generations. Villa Maria has farmed organically since 2002 gaining BioGro certification in 2009. Our Organic vineyards are vibrant gardens alive with wildflowers and full of life. The Soler and Te Awa Vineyards are planted on free draining gravel soils well suited to applying organic farming principles.
Season & Harvest:
The Hawkes Bay 2021 vintage followed a warm dry summer resulting in an early grape harvest, which has produced wines showing lovely crisp and vibrant flavours. Merlot grapes were harvested cool to protect the aromatics, gently pressed upon arrival at the winery and the clear juice is fermented in stainless steel using selected Biogro approved yeast strains. The wine is then left on its yeast lees for a closely monitored period of time to build palate weight without compromising freshness
