The Unexpected Shiraz 2014
- Vegan Suitable
- No Added Preservative (Preservative Free)
Winery/Brand: Andrew Peace Wines
On opening this wine has the funky aromas we often associate with preservative free vino. This makes way for aromas of rich plum, liquorice and black olives. The complexity builds as undertones of toffee and Hokey Pokey (Recipe link below) come to the fore.
To taste this wine is smooth and easy drinking. The plums and ripe black fruit are prominent and invite that next sip. Not ‘unexpectedly’, this is a great everyday wine!
No Added Preservative
Food Matches: Lamb burgers.
Here’s the recipe for Hokey Pokey if you’re keen to try it:

"For a number of years now, Sulphur is accepted as being part and parcel of the winemaking process. Well, here at Andrew Peace Wines we have looked to change this trend with our 2014 vintage, producing a stunning no detectable sulphur wine The Unexpected Shiraz’. Through an uncompromising wine-making process, with extended ageing on lees, we have prevented oxidation naturally, as opposed to adding Sulphur. This process has plumped the body of the wine giving it further complexity and has produced a wine with superb bright purple hue from the rim through to its core. The nose is ripe with bold blackcurrant fruit and is sweet and luscious on the palate, with a fabulously long finish.
This rich powerful wine works well with roasted lamb or beef, with Mediterranean Roasted Vegetables and full flavoured cheeses. Our stunning Shiraz is made without the use of any animal products whatsoever making it Vegan friendly too.
