"Straight up, I’m going to say it’s delicious to drink..."
A very appealing pinky rose gold colour. A nose of strawberries and cream with a touch of orange citrus peel. A lovely texture that glides over your tongue, filling your mouth with light red fruit, finishing with a dry savoury kick. This one will quickly disappear on a warm lazy afternoon.
Tasting notes for The Natural Wine Co Organic Rose 2019
I like Rose and I like this, it is, well, light in colour, which makes it nice to look at, and not to mention that its light on additives. The flavours offer some substance, its strawberry and cream, soft in the mouth and as close friend of ours described it, it’s just ‘like those lollies I used to have as a child!’ It sounds pretty good to me. Best consumed in moderation with good friends.
WINEMAKING: The Sangiovese was harvested on a cool night with immediate delivery to the winery for the commencement of the winemaking process. The fruit was perfectly ripe for Rose, 11.8 Baume which provided enough raspberry flavour without any under ripe acidic flavours. Free run juice was used for the production of this wine, juice clarification was followed by fermentation in tank with exotic yeast selected to promote red berry fruit aromas. The wine post ferment was simply fined using vegan friendly products and clarified for bottling. This wine was made whilst maintaining The Natural Wine Co’s minimal intervention philosophy.
REVIEWS & ACCOLADES:
“Rose gold in appearance, red currant and strawberry aromas kick things off with a touch of manderin peel. Soft red fruit glides through the mouth. A gentle shimmer of spice rustles its way through the mid palate. Creamy texture adds interest leaning itself be a solid partner for a range of food…”
“Summer accents are evident here. It's easy to consider Rosé simply a 'Summer' drink; lazy too I'd add - particularly in my home of Brisbane where daytime Winter temps clock in to the low 20s. But, for many, it is. And certainly where strawberry and rose scents are as evident here. Crisp and clippy across the palate. Offers a mix of fruit, with savoury edges. On a good length, again dry, giving.”

“Rosé has become increasing popular in our home, even during the winter months. The grape varieties being used to produce different styles seems to be growing every year, and Rosés are taking up a lot more space on bottle shop shelves and in fridges. We tend to gravitate towards the dry styles regardless of what variety it has been made from.
This one is made using Sangiovese fruit and I’m beginning to think the variety is perfectly suited to Rosé. And, when you say Sangiovese Rosé, it seems to roll off the tongue so effortlessly.
Strawberries shine on the nose and it’s a little bit floral too. Straight up, I’m going to say it’s delicious to drink. Those strawberry characters present here too, blood orange/citrusy note plays a part and there’s a brighter red fruit influence making it fresh and lively. There’s the added touch of texture as it slips over the tongue and disappears from your mouth. A second glass was a no-brainer.”.
