VINEYARD

The fruit was sourced from vineyards throughout South Australia - Riverland, Eden Valley and McLaren Vale. The climates from these vineyards are diverse, ranging from Eden Valley where it is a cool climate with temperatures dropping drastically at night but warm days to Continental in the Riverland, where there are long Sunny days with cooler nights resulting in low humidity which provides very little disease pressure. McLaren Vale is Mediterranean in climate with warm summers and cooling effects from the near by ocean. A strong 2022 vintage from high-quality fruit and low to moderate yields with excellent natural acidity from an overall cool vintage with extended ripening periods for most varieties. Perhaps one of the longest vintages we have experienced, harvest continued for 11 weeks. We commenced picking whites on the 3rd of February in the Riverland, and concluded on the 25th April at Langhorne Creek with Shiraz.

WINEMAKING

A very cool growing season led to significant delays in ripening for our Pinot Noir in all vineyards. We started picking in McLaren Vale and Riverland in mid-February, followed by the much cooler site of Eden valley, which was picked in late March. The parcels were picked, destemmed and then fermented separately for an average of two weeks. A cool and long fermentation enhanced the fresh fruit character of this wine. MLF was completed, and bottled in June 2022. No sulphur dioxide was added during any stage.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Ruby red.

AROMA: Dark cherries, raspberries, blackberry, plums, pomegranate, cranberries.

FLAVOUR: Mint, cloves, cardamom, pink peppercorns. Soft fine tannins on finish.

CELLAR POTENTIAL: Drink now.
