Tasting notes from the winery for Stefano Lubiana Riesling 2019
Our 2019 Riesling displays beautiful floral and fresh fruit notes on the nose while the palate is crisp green apple followed by subtle fruit sweetness on the mid palate with potpourri on the finish.
Tasmania’s ultra-cool climate is perfect for making Riesling wines with finesse and distinction. Our winemaking philosophy takes full advantage of the perfectly balanced pristine fruit from the naturally cultivated vineyard. Minimal handling and whole bunch pressing together with the use of wild yeast fermentation in large format Austrian oak results in wines with the purest expression of their terroir.

Tasmania’s first and only certified biodynamic vineyard has been cultivating vines using biodynamic methods since 2010. This means that their wines are free of all synthetic treatments, additives and pesticides. Instead they travel the alternative path, stepping back in time and using cosmic rhythms to ensure soil regenereation as well as effective vine care through all phases of the year’s seasonal cycles.
Their much sought-after wines are the result of a passionate unrelenting quest for perfection. This passion, along with free thinking and attention to detail allows them to create wines which reflect this vision. It seems a good year for Riesling in Tasmania. Very pretty, all the citrus blossom, sugar dusted green apple and lime. Juicy, light chalky texture, sweet green apple and some tangy citrus, cool acidity well-threaded and a perfumed finish of fine length. It’s lovely now. Not wince inducing in style, and easy to like. Kind of Tassie-Germanic, as an afterthought.
