A very appealing wine on the nose, with notes of citrus, smoked almonds and apple. The palate is medium-bodied, focused and bright, showing juicy tropical fruits, with hints of grapefruit, nectarine and peach. Good acidity; linear and mouthwatering, giving backbone to the soft orchard-fruit core and carrying through to a long fragrant finish.

Tasting Notes From the Winery for Seresin Chardonnay 2018

Presenting a gorgeous bright golden hue, this Chardonnay screams elegance and texture. The nose is lifted with notes of fleshy stone fruits laced with brioche, and the palate is layered, creamy and complex, yet still elegant, and is framed with focused acidity

Vintage:
2018 will be remembered as being rather unusual for Marlborough, with a run of wet conditions following a period of warm weather. Fortunately, our vineyards all fared well, with low yields and careful management ensuring a large proportion was harvested by the end of March. Above all, we will remember this vintage for its fast and furious nature – blink and you nearly missed it! However the resulting wines are showing a great deal of poise, elegance and subtlety. We are beyond excited to nurture them into the bottle and bring them to market.

Winemaking:
The fruit was hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, lightly settled overnight and sent to barrel. Each parcel was naturally fermented in a mixture of barriques and puncheons. The wine went through malolactic fermentation, which occurred naturally in barrel. After 11 months in oak, 6% new, the wine was blended, lightly filtered and bottled without fining.

Viticulture:
The fruit comes from both our clay rich hillside Raupo Creek vineyard in the Omaka Valley, which has a gentle north-west facing aspect, and also our home Noa vineyard that is settled in the western end of the Wairau Valley.
