This is a crisp, low-alcohol, phenolic white blend of early picked Chardonnay fermented on skins in the “egg” (ceramic tank) for 80 days, and blended with direct pressed Vermentino. The Chardonnay skins, being early picked and green, impart a lovely tartness and soft acidity, which is enhanced by the citrussy zing of the Vermentino.
Tasting Notes for Rosnay Garage Wine No. 17 Skin Contact from the Winery
This is a crisp, low-alcohol, phenolic white blend of early picked Chardonnay and ripe Vermentino fermented on skins in the “egg” (ceramic tank) and steel tanks for 80 days. The Chardonnay skins, being early picked and green, impart a lovely tartness and soft acidity, which is enhanced by the citrussy zing of the Vermentino. As with the other “garage” wines, this is made with wild yeast fermentation, no fining, preservative free and bottled under cork.
The wine is unfiltered and has a slight lees (yeast) haze and will slowly form a sediment. The anti-oxidant activity of the lees may help preserve the wine over time.
