Winery/Brand: Martins Hill
The Pinot Noir is planted on the steepest section of Martins Hill to avoid late Spring frosts. The wine has a rich varietal nose and a firm palate reflecting the quality of the 18 year old vines. The use of old oak gives the wine a fine balance between wood and pinot fruit flavours.
The Story
This year's Pinot responded magnificently to the welcome Spring rain, followed by a mild and dry ripening period. The grapes were hand picked and immediately started in open fermentation. As usual we have given only limited time in Oak, so as to highlight the distinctive Pinot nose and palate. Ready to drink upon release, but would cellar well for 5 years.
