Winery/Brand: Martins Hill
The Pinot Noir is planted on the steepest section of Martins Hill to avoid late Spring frosts. The wine has a rich varietal nose and a firm palate reflecting the quality of the 16 year old vines. The use of old oak gives the wine a fine balance between wood and pinot fruit flavours.
The Story
As expected, this 2006 Pinot Noir is low yielding vintage, only 120 cases made. This was due to a substantial re-working of the 22 year old vines, which are planted on the high steep areas of Martins Hill. Nonetheless, quality and flavour has remained, which will ensure our regular Pinot customers will not be disappointed. Open fermentation and then given a year in old oak barrels.
