Vintage 2003 was in the midst of one of the driest periods on record. The vineyard received only 4 inches of rain in the 6 months prior to harvest, which was 2 weeks earlier than normal. Such conditions produced a more robust than normal Sauvignon Blanc, which drinks perfectly now, but may well evolve as a good aged wine by 2008.
