Tasting Notes for Love Not War Organic Pinot Noir from the Winery

Summary: Love Not War brings together a collective of like-minded winemakers from around the world united by their belief in organic farming. Enabling them to showcase classic wine styles delivered from the most sought-after wine regions. Hand-crafted thoughtfully using premium organically farmed fruit and minimal winemaking intervention resulting in vibrant, full flavoured, vegan friendly wines.

Winemaking: Fruit is picked and de-stemmed then put in open fermenters. A small part of the blend is matured on oak.

Vineyards: From dry grown organic vineyards in the Gard region situated on the Rhone river and part of Languedoc Roussillon. The vines sit on a mix of clay and limestone soils. During summer it remains warm and sunny yet cool at night due to the proximity of the river and the sea.

Vintage 2019: Drought has been a problem for the region in recent years and 2019 was not spared from more challenging drought conditions. A cold, dry Spring meant the vines were not in optimum flowering conditions, then an intense Summer heat hampered further development. Thankfully, it cooled prior to harvest. Although a later harvest, the fruit finally ripened and the results were more concentrated with defined tannin structure.

Tasting Note: Light red in colour with a ripe nose of strawberries and a hint of spice. A smooth mouthfeel with good length and clean acidity so typical of the variety. Fresh and fruity with an assured elegance and soft, fine tannins on the finish. Pair with a duck, beetroot and lentil salad.
