Happs
Situated at the northern end of the Margaret River region, the Happ family established their vineyard at Dunsborough in 1978 (the home vineyard). Following their success a second much larger property was acquired at Karridale 60km south. The Karridale vineyard was planted in 1994 and has no less than 28 different varieties established now. This is a beautiful part of the world with gently sloping hills, ancient soils and giant trees. Summers are dry but the fine and balmy Autumn months allow the fruit to slowly ripen and retain an array of flavours.
Erl Happ is the driving force behind Happs vineyard, a passionate, energetic & unconventional character who loves to experiment with varieties & winemaking techniques and is not afraid to challenge conventional thinking. His aim is to maximise the development of fruit flavours and to make natural wines as free from preservatives as possible.
