Verdelho, a completely underrated, and in our opinion, under represented grape varietal. It’s as pretty as a picture; all pale ivory with a hint of green. As a preservative free wine, we expect a hint of ‘wild’ on the nose, this dissipates quickly and the aromas of white flowers, frangipani, nectarine, banana and pear come to the fore. It’s promises an interesting flavour profile and doesn’t disappoint. There is an initial mouth filling sweetness, fresh green apple juice with a touch of tannin. The mouthfeel is fruity, with a hint of green olive and marzipan to add complexity.
A very food friendly wine with a well-balanced acid content and a crisp dry finish. Crumbly cheeses anyone? Roast chicken with all the trimming? Make sure you invite the Verdelho!

The fruit for this wine was sourced from a long-standing Organic SA Winery. The grapes were crushed and cooled before lightly being pressed. The wine underwent alcoholic fermentation slowly under cool conditions to retain fruit flavour. Malo-lactic fermentation was encouraged which has increased palate weight and complexity. Sulphur dioxide was not used during the production of this wine.
