In the glass it is a pale gold colour with pink highlights. Bouquet of citrus and tropical fruits, tinned pineapple, fennel seed spice and a minerally component. A lovely textural palate with a good acid line, grassiness and an underlying nuttiness.

Tasting Notes from the winery:
Colour: Light straw golden hues with some green
Aroma: Lime, light tropicals and mineral
Taste: Melon, pear and lemon acid freshness
Background: The Freehand 2014 SSB is a dry, barrel matured white. Handpicked in the vineyard for freshness and vitality. Aged on lees for 12 months in French oak Barriques. Juice was left to ferment naturally on skins for up to 48hrs to extract colour and flavour compounds from the skins. Skin contact and barrel maturation are usually avoided when making a conventional SSB. Not a Freehand one! We gently basket press the skins and finish ferment in barrel with lees stirring. Malolactic fermentation is encouraged and usually completes in the following spring. A white wine with zero sulphur and plenty of flavour and texture.
