Tasting Notes from the Winery
This is our fourth vintage of the Freehand preservative free Semillon. The winemaking employs skin contact, lees stirring and barrel maturation in french and american oak and zero sulphite additions. Making it 100% yum.
Colour: Light straw gold with green hues
Aroma: Lime, pear, light tropical and mineral
Taste: Melon, stone fruit, pear and integrated lemony acid
Background: The Freehand Semillon is a dry, barrel matured white. Handpicked in the vineyard for freshness and vitality. Aged on lees for 12 months in French oak Barriques. Juice was left to ferment naturally on skins for up to 72hrs to extract colour and flavour compounds from the skins. We gently basket press the skins and finish ferment in barrel with lees stirring. Malolactic fermentation is encouraged and usually completes in the following spring. A white wine made with zero sulphur additions and plenty of flavour and texture.
A fresh fruity, and fragrant white wine possessing depth and vitality with brilliant golden hues. A layered and rewarding white wine. Recommended by and to all Red wine and Oaked Chardonnay fans.
