Tasting notes from the winery for Brave New Wine Glitter Us Pet-Nat 2019

Aromatic white varieties of Vermentino, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and a little Gewürztraminer were picked early for fresh fruit and natural acid. The parcels were naturally fermented in a combination of old barrels and tank, with a small amount of skin contact to extract extra flavour and structure. Blended and bottled while fermenting for fizzy wine fun. No preservatives or any other additions. It’s wild, juicy, complex and delicious

Vintage:
2019 in the Great Southern presented some challenging conditions. A dry winter and some adverse weather during flowering resulted in low crop levels. This led into beautiful spring and early summer conditions with lots of sunshine and no heat spikes, meaning early varieties were harvested in perfect condition. Bird pressure was high due to the native Marri blossom being practically non-existent. A couple of significant rain events in March resulted in some disease pressure but with well set up vineyards and good management, the team here managed to get the rest of the fruit off unscathed, with lower sugars, great balance and intense flavours.
