Bosworth Wins the Battle

Small winemaker Battle of Bosworth, from McLaren Vale, South Australia, has taken out the trophy for Best Wine of Show with its 2005 Battle of Bosworth Shiraz Viognier at the 2006 Australia and New Zealand Organic Wine Show.

Owner and winemaker Mr. Joch Bosworth was delighted with the result, seeing the award as a tremendous endorsement for organic principles in both the vineyard and winery.

‘We pride ourselves on making great wines from McLaren Vale, now with this splendid Trophy we can promote our organic credentials as well” he said. “Organic viticulture precludes the use of synthetic chemicals and so we have been creative in our vineyard management at Battle of Bosworth. We enlisted the humble Soursob – a weed in most people’s eyes –to combat other weeds, and in recognition of this help, we feature the Soursob’s yellow flower on our label”

The Wine Show is the only annual Organic Wine Show dedicated to the judging and promotion of certified organic wines from both Australia and New Zealand, and was held in conjunction with the annual Organic expo in Sydney recently. The show was judged by four leading Australian wine authorities including Max Allen, a renowned wine journalist.
