“Sometimes you taste Merlots and it’s as though the winemakers just aren’t trying. And then you get energetic andjuicy examples like this. Well done to the Angove team. You get the sense this is bouncing on the balls of its feet. Dark cherries, raspberries, dark chocolate and ground cinnamon. Juicy plums seem to keep everything within a tight grip ensuring it shines best, albeit marginally. Charred oak wraps up a pretty handy package that’s worth a look. Top value too for an organic wine.” 

TASTING NOTES FROM THE WINERY

VINEYARD
The grapes for this wine were sourced from Angove’s own Nanya Organic vineyard located near the township of Paringa. The soil is a relatively shallow red sandy loam over limestone, on top of a cliff overlooking the picturesque Murray River. The vines are mostly single cordon lower yielding vines, which the winemakers have noticed to be quite resilient in adverse conditions. Whether it is due to the organic practices being used or the site itself, the vineyard produces rich textural wines.
