Tasting Notes
Bright and approachable, with spiced plums, cherries and a gentle clove-like spice. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy, flowing smoothly with soft tannins and a dry, moreish finish — the kind of red that disappears quickly once the food hits the table.
Winemaking
De-stemmed and selectively sorted to open fermenter, then wild fermented. The wine spends 12 days on skins before pressing to tank, and matures for 5 months in stainless steel. No additions are used throughout the entire production, and it’s bottled in October 2022 for maximum freshness.
Vineyard & Vintage
From Yangarra’s certified organic and biodynamic estate in Blewitt Springs (McLaren Vale), on ancient North Maslin Sands. The elevated site helps Shiraz hold vibrancy and lift, which is exactly what you want for a preservative-free style: bright fruit, clean lines and good natural balance.
Why We Love It
Because it proves preservative-free red can be both delicious and genuinely well made. It’s all about clean fruit and drinkability — no heaviness, no “added” edges — just a vibrant, juicy Shiraz that’s perfect for midweek dinners, BBQs and “open another bottle?” nights.
Food Pairing
Best with simple, flavour-forward meals: BBQ chicken, sausages, mushroom burgers, tomato-based pasta and smoky vegetables. The juicy fruit and soft tannins also handle spice (pepper, cumin, paprika) without feeling too serious.

Mood or occasion to match this wine…
Easy, no-fuss red for when friends drop over and dinner is on the fly. Chill it for 10 minutes, put something on the grill, and let the juicy fruit and gentle spice do the work. It’s also a great “bring-a-bottle” option because it tastes good with almost anything.
Cellaring
Drink young for best freshness and vibrancy. It’s made to shine in its first 1–2 years.

FAQ
What does “preservative free” mean here?
It means no sulphur dioxide (preservative) is added at any stage. In this wine, Yangarra also uses no other additions (no acid, tannin or fining), keeping the style as pure and fruit-driven as possible.
Does preservative-free red taste different?
Often it tastes brighter and more fruit-forward, with a softer, more immediate feel. This style is typically made for early drinking, so it’s all about freshness and drinkability.
Should I store it differently?
Keep it cool and avoid heat. Like all wine, it hates warm storage — but fresh, no-additions styles especially benefit from a stable, cool spot.
Should I decant it?
Not necessary. A quick swirl is enough — it’s designed to be open and ready to drink.
Can I chill it?
Yes — a light chill (10 minutes in the fridge) makes it even more refreshing and highlights the bright fruit.
Who will love it most?
Anyone who wants a juicy, medium-bodied red that’s easy to drink, versatile with food, and made with a minimal-intervention, no-additions approach.

Destemmed and sorted with wild fermentation and 5 months maturation in stainless steel. Red cherries, raspberry and black currants. Harissa spice with notes of caraway, red clay and wild thyme. Black olive and blood plums. It's all about freshness in this wine and built for weeknight drinking. A spaghetti bolognese, a pepperoni pizza, this wine has its place in any home and on any occasion. The bright acidity keeps you sipping and tightly wound tannins make it ideal for red-based sauces and spicy meats. Drink now.

2022 vintage
Fermented wild, basket pressed, no additives, preservative free. Fresh, well-structured, ripe but not overtly sweet in its flavour profile. This goes alright and then some. It’s a bit jubey and a bit plummy with clove and blueberry-like highlights. Nice. Good. Worth buying/drinking.
