It all began 70 years ago in the village known as Agrelopo, on the historic island of Chios, Greece, where they farmed in tune with the cycles of the sun and the moon, coaxing the seasons, to achieve the ultimate nutrition in their produce from the soil, the sun and the rain.
Agelopo translated means "wild fox", the feisty one selecting the very choicest by intuition, knowledge, patience and skill, pride and success.
So today three generations of the Markou family continue the tradition of excellence in the best practice of wine production from grapes in the vineyard right through to the bottling of fine wine for your table.
Located on the vast expanses of the Adelaide Plains 40kms west of the Barossa valley, where it's rich clay soils and Mediterranean style climate has seen this region produce some of Australia's finest agriculture, and is emerging as a premium wine growing region where Wild Fox enjoys the status as one of the states premium organic vineyards.
