Pale cherry red in colour this is a light bodied fragrant wine with aromas of raspberry, fresh cherry and hints of aniseed and clove. The palate is soft and smooth, with more red fruits, a little savoury complexity and some gentle tannins. Drink now or over the next 2 years.

Not sure why it’s called “Huckleberry Hustle”, but who cares? What a great little wine! It’s exciting to see the use of a different grape variety other than the usual suspects, and this Grenache fits the bill perfectly. I must admit, I much prefer Grenache when it’s light, soft, fragrant and savoury and this is bang on with ripe, youthful, fragrant red berry fruit aromatics that are echoed on the ripe palate alongside the savoury nuance and complexity. It has the delicacy of a light Pinot Noir, married almost with the fragrance of a young Nebbiolo – think cherry, raspberry, cinnamon and spice, so fresh and delicious. A real eye opener! This would really complement a variety of foods, and I think they’ve nailed it with this beautiful wine sourced from Loxton, more please.”
The very deep red sand over yellow clay and limestone soils and the warm continental climate of our Loxton vineyard produce outstanding Rhone varieties such as Grenache. The vineyard has been certifi ed organic since 2010 and an exceptional vintage, low disease pressure and a late cool ripening period, coupled with low to medium yields, provided a perfect season for Grenache
The Grenache for this wine was picked during the fi rst week of March, crushed and spent two days on skins. The Juice was then pressed off of Grenache skins and fermented cool in tank, towards the end of fermentation the fermenting wine was soaked on Eden Valley Shiraz skins adding complexity and delicate tannin. This wine was made without the addition of sulphur dioxide.
COLOUR Light red.
AROMA Aromas of raspberry, fresh cherry and toff ee apple with hints of aniseed and clove.
FLAVOUR Fine delicate tannins carry the fl avour through into a gentle chalky fi nish.
