Tasting Notes

Pale and bright in the glass, this Sauvignon Blanc Semillon opens with delicate lemon, citrus, lantana and a hint of summer meadow. The palate is clean and crisp, with lovely gentle acidity and a lemony twist that carries through the finish. It sits in an off-dry profile at around 7 g/L residual sugar, but the citrus line keeps the wine fresh, lively and easy to match with food.

Winemaking

Forget-Me-Not is made as a fresh Bordeaux-inspired white blend, with Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon handled to preserve aromatic lift and clean citrus flavour. The grapes are picked at night so they arrive at the winery cool, then fermented in stainless steel to retain freshness and gentle aromatics. No oak is used, keeping the style crisp, bright and immediately drinkable.

Vineyard & Vintage

The fruit comes from the Bosworth family’s certified organic vineyard in McLaren Vale, South Australia. Spring Seed’s vineyards are managed organically, with the vines fully certified A-grade organic by Australian Certified Organic. The 2024 release is 12.5% ABV, with approximately 7 g/L residual sugar, less than 1 gram of sugar per 100mL and a moderate, fresh white-wine profile shaped around lemon, citrus and gentle acidity.

Why We Love It

This is such a useful white: crisp enough for seafood and warm afternoons, but a little softer and more aromatic than very lean Sauvignon Blanc. The lemon, lantana and meadow-floral notes make it pretty without being perfumed, while the Semillon gives the palate a calm, food-friendly line. It is certified organic, vegan suitable and made for relaxed Australian lunches.

Food Pairing

With lemon, citrus, lantana and gentle acidity, this wine loves dishes with herbs, citrus, soft spice and creamy or salty edges. It is excellent with chicken tagine, soft cheese, seafood, fresh salads, green vegetables and lightly spiced vegetarian dishes.

Cellaring

Drink now to 2027 for the brightest lemon, citrus, lantana and meadow-floral characters. Semillon can gain texture with time, but this blend is best enjoyed while fresh and aromatic. Store it cool and dark, away from heat and light.

Producer

Spring Seed Wine Co is part of the Bosworth family’s McLaren Vale wine story, based at 92 Gaffney Road in Willunga. The vineyard was established in the early 1970s by Peter and Anthea Bosworth and is now run by Joch Bosworth and Louise Hemsley-Smith. Joch began converting the vineyard to organic viticulture in 1995, and the vines have been certified organic since 1999. The labels are inspired by vintage flower seed packets, with Forget-Me-Not carrying the Pot Marigold, Forget-me-not and Sunflower artwork.

FAQ

What does Spring Seed Forget-Me-Not Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2024 taste like?

It tastes crisp and lemony, with delicate citrus, lantana and a hint of summer meadow. The palate is clean and light-medium bodied, with gentle acidity and a lemony finish. It is softer and more floral than a very grassy Sauvignon Blanc.

Is this wine dry or sweet?

This wine sits in an off-dry profile at around 7 g/L residual sugar. The sweetness is subtle, adding softness through the middle rather than obvious sugar. Citrus and acidity keep the finish fresh and balanced.

What is the body and acidity like?

The body is light to medium, with a clean, crisp palate. Acidity is fresh but gentle rather than piercing. That makes the wine easy to enjoy with seafood, soft cheese, chicken and lighter vegetable dishes.

Does this wine contain preservatives or sulphites?

This is a certified organic white wine, not a No Added Preservative wine. It may contain sulphites, as most wines do, and organic wines are made to lower allowable sulphur limits than conventional wines. It is certified organic and vegan suitable.

How should I serve Spring Seed Forget-Me-Not?

Serve chilled at around 7–9°C in a standard white wine glass. No decanting is needed. Give it a few minutes in the glass if it is very cold, so the lemon, lantana and floral notes can open.

What food pairs well with this Sauvignon Blanc Semillon?

It pairs beautifully with soft cheese, chicken tagine, grilled fish, prawns, fresh salads, goat’s cheese tart and lemony vegetable dishes. The citrus line works with seafood and herbs, while the off-dry softness can handle gentle spice. For a vegetarian match, try zucchini and goat’s cheese tart or a herb-packed salad.

Can this wine be cellared?

This wine is best enjoyed young for its lemon, citrus and meadow-floral freshness. Drink now to 2027 for the most vibrant aromatics. Store it somewhere cool, dark and stable.

Is Spring Seed Forget-Me-Not vegan friendly?

Yes, this wine is vegan suitable. It is also certified organic and made from the Bosworth family’s McLaren Vale vineyard. It is a good choice for mixed tables where you want an easy organic white with broad food appeal.

Who will enjoy this wine the most?

This is ideal for drinkers who enjoy crisp whites with citrus, light florals and a softer finish. If you like Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends, Pinot Grigio or fresh organic whites, this will suit you well. It is gentler than very grassy, high-acid Sauvignon Blanc.

Is this wine keto friendly?

This wine is low in sugar per 100mL, but it is off-dry rather than bone-dry. It may suit moderate low-sugar drinkers, while strict keto customers may prefer a drier white wine. Alcohol still contributes calories, so enjoy it mindfully as part of your broader plan.
