The Story
Richmond Plains Blanc de Noir is an exciting unique wine. Made 100% from Pinot Noir grapes in a white wine style. Its faint pink diamond colour hinting at its origins. Nicely chilled this wine is perfect as an aperitif or summertime drinking. All Richmond Plains grapes are grown on our own vineyard. Both the growing of our grapes and winemaking are certified organic by BioGro New Zealand.
Vintage: Fruit was hand picked from 14 year old Pinot Noir vines on Scott Henry trellising. A hot, dry summer contributed to an early harvest with good quality fruit and excellent fruit flavours.
Wine Making: All fruit was whole bunch pressed to minimize skin contact and colour extraction and the juice cool fermented to preserve primary fruit characters. A hot, dry summer contributed to an early harvest with good fruit quality and flavours.
Alcohol: 12.5%
Acidity: 6.3 g/L
Residual sugar: 8.9 g/L
“A very pale, gold tinted shade of rose. Strawberries, nougat, manderian and caramel creames on display on an intriguingly subtle nose. A tasty, aperitiff style wine of good complexity, with lively initial splashes of manderin, cherry, strawberry and cream.” - David Stewart, Truewines.
