About Pig In The House

Pig in The House wines are grown and made in Cowra New South Wales. We believe that our organic farming practices produce wines which are unique to our region. We planted vineyard in the mid 1990s on land which was once a free-range piggery; so free that the pigs were often in the house. The locals still ask whether the pig is still in the house. Most of the time the answer is no.

Review from winecompanion.com.au 91 Points

Pig in the House has run its vineyards organically for 21 years, and now manage them biodynamically. Most of this wine was fermented/matured in stainless steel, only 15% seeing oak. It presents bright, fresh lemon sorbet characters, gradually adding breadth via notes of rose oil and talc. It's a mouthwatering style, to say the least, but the wine's elegance and length are its real quality markers.

Patrick Eckel Wine Rating 89

A small portion of the wine (15%) was aged in new and older French oak with the balance in tank, both barrel and tank components were left on lees for four months before bottling.

The nose gives attractive up front white peach and a suggestion of almond meal with time in the glass. The wine is characterised by strong mineral drive with stone fruits giving richness and a lemon zest providing a tart contrast. A well made wine that will reward time in the bottle.
