Winery/Brand: Krinklewood

Very pale straw with a luminous green hue, this wine has lifted notes of limes, orange peel and sweet pea. It is a finely structured Semillon displaying ripe citrus flavours, a tight acid line and refreshing finish. Crisp and low in alcohol – it is perfect to enjoy now or is suitable for cellaring.

The Story

FRUIT: The 2010 vintage commenced with a wet winter followed by a reasonably hot Spring. There was a spectacular storm on Nov 22nd; nestled in the valley Krinklewood fared well and there was no overall damage to fruit. The hot weather continued from late November right through to late January, prompting another early start to harvest. The Verdelho was picked on Jan 28th and at perfect timing with the right pH, fruit flavour and baume.

WINEMAKING: The fruit was crushed with only the premium free-run juices being used. Fermentation took place in Stainless Steel tanks under cool conditions, and the wine was bottled early to retain freshness of the primary fruit characters, and minimal filtration.

CUISINE: The perfect accompaniment with fresh shellfish.

Silver MedalSydney Royal Wine Show – 2011

'…A very strong performer was Krinklewood biodynamic Vineyard in the Hunter Valley. The big standouts were the gold medal-winning 2009 Chardonnay, with its youthful, oak wrapped, white nectarine fruit with great purity and line, and the Silver winning 2010 Francesca Rosé, with lovely brightness and perfumed minerality. For what it’s worth, I thought the 2010 Krinklewood Semillon was a ripper too, thrilling dew-fresh, delicately fennel scented…. '. Max Allen » Gourmet Traveller Wine Green Gauge » Oct 2010
