Winery/Brand: Krinklewood

Rich cherry red in colour, it has a nose of dried spice with lifted notes of black plums with hint of mocca. Tobacco and dried spices are layered over pristine flavours of blackcurrant and cherries. Fine French oak balances the intense fruit driven palate.

The Story

FRUIT: The 2010 vintage commenced with a wet winter followed by a reasonably hot Spring. There was a spectacular storm on Nov 22nd; nestled in the valley Krinklewood fared well and there was no overall damage to fruit. The hot weather continued from late November right through to late January, prompting another early start to harvest, which commenced on Jan 27th with the Semillon and Jan 28th for Verdelho. The Chardonnay was slightly later, harvested on Feb 4th. All fruit was picked at perfect timing with the right pH, fruit flavour and baume.

WINEMAKING: The grapes were crushed, pressed and then fermented on the skins for a week. The wine was matured in second-used French Oak for 16-months before blending & bottling.

CUISINE: Wood fired pizza with prosciutto, rocket, freshly shaved parmesan cheese and plenty of cracked pepper.
