Tasting Notes for Hochkirch Rose 2023 from the winery:
Pale pink/red. Fresh raspberry/red cherry nose. Quite rich soft red berry fruit tensioned by ripe lively acid ending long, crisp and fresh.
Harvested by hand 9-11/05. Whole bunch pressed to tank for wild ferment. Racked to small old wood under gravity 10/09/2023, then natural malo in summer. Assembled 20/07/2024. Bottled with 50ppm SO2 25th September as only add.
Hochkirch vineyard lies on a north facing slope 250 m. above sea level along an elevated plateau running southwest from Dunkeld at the foot of the Grampians in far south west Victoria. The vines are dry farmed (no irrigation) and no synthetic fungicides, pesticides or fertilisers are used; certified bio-dynamic by Demeter.
