About Delinquente Wine Co

Delinquente Wine Co is a Riverland natural wine producer making bright, playful wines from organically grown Southern Italian grape varieties. Founded by Con-Greg Grigoriou in 2013, the label was created to show a different side of the Riverland — one built around climate-suited varieties, early picking, wild fermentation and easy, energetic drinkability.

Con-Greg grew up in the Riverland, surrounded by vineyards, wineries and the Murray River. Delinquente draws on that local background while taking a deliberately fresh path: Vermentino, Montepulciano, Nero d’Avola, Bianco d’Alessano and other warm-climate varieties handled with minimal intervention. The labels, created by artist Jason Koen, also form a big part of the brand’s identity — bold, hand-drawn and instantly recognisable.

  • Small-batch natural wine producer from South Australia’s Riverland
  • Founded by Con-Greg Grigoriou in 2013
  • Focused on organically grown Southern Italian grape varieties
  • Wild yeast ferments and minimal intervention in the winery
  • Known for bright, lower-alcohol, acid-driven wines with fresh fruit and real personality

Where Is Delinquente From?

Delinquente comes from South Australia’s Riverland, a warm, dry inland region shaped by the Murray River. The region has historically been associated with volume wine, but Delinquente takes a more adventurous approach, using varieties that suit heat, dryness and lower water needs. The result is wine that feels fresh, modern and distinctly Riverland.

Organic, Vegan and Minimal-Intervention Winemaking

Delinquente works with organically grown fruit and a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar. Wild yeast fermentation, early picking and gentle handling help keep the wines lively, bright and naturally expressive. Many wines are vegan friendly, with sulphur use varying by wine, so individual product details should always guide customers with specific preservative preferences.

What Makes Delinquente Different?

Delinquente stands out because it reimagines what Riverland wine can be. Instead of chasing heavy, high-alcohol reds, the focus is on freshness, acidity, drinkability and climate-suitable grape varieties. The wines are fun and colourful, but there is a smart sustainability logic behind the style.

What Is Delinquente Known For?

Delinquente is known for pét nats, chillable reds, textural whites and skinsy natural styles made from varieties such as Vermentino, Nero d’Avola, Montepulciano, Negroamaro and Bianco d’Alessano. The wines are usually bright, juicy and energetic, with playful labels and a strong sense of personality. They are made for drinking young, sharing generously and not overthinking.

Why We Love Delinquente

We love Delinquente because it brings freshness, humour and intelligence to natural wine. The wines are light on their feet, full of character and grounded in a genuine Riverland story. For customers who want natural wine that is expressive but still approachable, Delinquente is one of the easiest brands to love.

Michelle’s Top 3 Delinquente Wines to Try

These three picks show Delinquente’s playful Riverland personality beautifully — a bitter-sweet Australian aperitivo, a skinsy aromatic white and a salty, acid-driven Vermentino.

  • Bizzarro Aperitivo — an all-natural Australian aperitivo made from organic and biodynamic skin-contact Vermentino infused with rhubarb, gentian root, Riverland oranges, lemons and botanicals. Bitter-sweet, citrusy and made for spritzes, cocktails or soda over ice.
  • Delinquente Jaybird Macerato — a fresh, skinsy white with peach, nectarine, rose blossom, grassy lift, salty crunch and a tropical pineapple-lychee finish. Aromatic, textural and fun to drink.
  • Delinquente Screaming Betty Vermentino — a bright Riverland Vermentino with jasmine, geranium, green apple, grapefruit, lemon curd and crunchy salinity. High-wire fresh, wild fermented and brilliant with creamy pasta or seafood.

Food & Cuisine Pairing Ideas

Delinquente wines are made for casual, flavour-packed food. Pair the pét nats and whites with seafood, fried snacks, spicy dishes, sushi, Vietnamese salads and salty antipasto. The chillable reds work beautifully with pizza, charcuterie, BBQ vegetables, burgers, tomato-based pasta and long lunch grazing plates.

Who Will Enjoy These Wines?

Delinquente is ideal for drinkers who enjoy natural wine, lighter reds, pét nat, aromatic whites and wines with a bit of edge. It suits customers who want organic and minimal-intervention wines that feel fun, fresh and not too serious. If you like juicy, chillable, lower-alcohol styles with bright acidity and expressive fruit, Delinquente is a brilliant fit.
