How does the pricing work?

Wines that are available for purchase by the bottle (nearly all wines on our list) use a 3 tier price model to reward full case purchases with a discount. The default case quantity is 12 bottles. The 3 prices are defined as follows:

  1. in a straight case of 12 (straight): This is the per bottle price you will pay when your cart contains 12 bottles of the same wine. The cheapest price available.

  2. in a mixed case of 12 (mixed): This is the per bottle price you will pay when your cart contains a combination of different wines adding up to 12 bottles in total. A discount of around 5-10%.

  3. each: This is the standard per bottle price you will pay when your cart contains less than 12 bottles of wine in total. Orders for less than 12 bottles of wine in total do not qualify for an extra discount.

The shopping cart will automatically adjust the bottle price when you qualify for a mixed or straight case pricing. Until you add the 12th bottle to the cart you will only qualify for the non-discounted "each" price.

If you order more than 12 bottles of the same wine, for example 18, all 18 will be at the "straight" case price.

If you order more than 12 "mixed" bottles, each subsequent bottle will also receive the mixed case price.

Tasting packs already have a discount built into their price and cannot be counted towards your "mixed case" total.
