Owned and run by Céline Brocard and Frédéric Gueguen, Domaine Gueguen is based in the hamlet of Préhy, just 7 km southwest of Chablis. Although it’s dripping with the history of its founders, it was established in just 2013. The vineyards are largely inherited from Céline’s grandmother Marie Louise (located in the lands of Auxerrois) and the rest has been acquired as the couple has grown the Domaine. Nearly all the fruit is estate-grown, with just a small amount in Chablis sourced from reputable growers.

Céline Brocard hails from generation upon generation of wine-growing women. Her mother, Claudine Petit, inherited vines in the commune of Saint-Bris le Vineux from her mother, which in turn had come from her grandmother in 1882. Frédéric is also from Chablis rootstock, being related to both the Goulley and Durup families. The duo worked together with Céline’s father at his family estate, Jean-Marc Brocard, as vignerons and winemakers for 13 years. A life in wine was always in the stars.

“My grandmother had a very strong personality; she was authentic and direct,” says Céline. “She was hard working and went to the vineyards whether it rained or shined. She instilled core values of courage, strength and determination in my mother.”

While Domaine Gueguen is not yet certified, there have been no herbicides or pesticides sprayed since 2015. In 2020 they began working towards organic certification (due 2022). The vineyards also benefit from the Highest Environmental Value Certificate (HEV) based on conservation, plant protection strategy and management of fertiliser and water.
