Vynfields vineyard was originally planted in 1983 with three acres of Riesling and nine acres of miscellaneous vines. The latter were replaced by Martinborough proven Pinot Noir in 1998 by new owners, John Bell and Kaye McAulay.

They have funded their passion for top quality Martinborough Dry Riesling and Pinot Noir, by working full time in both Wellington and Martinborough. Their goal is to produce premium wines using organic viticulture practices, currently under conversion to organic viticulture certified by Bio-Gro New Zealand

Vynfields is a boutique operation combining a specialist 13-acre vineyard on the celebrated Martinborough Terraces with peaceful self-contained cottage accommodation.

The Martinborough Terraces consist of free draining alluvial gravel above the Ruamahanga River, in amidst Martinborough's international award winning vineyards. The vineyard is now certified organic by Bio-Gro New Zealand and the approach of the vineyard owners is to produce uncompromisingly good wine, hand crafted in the traditional way.
