Winery/Brand: Rosnay
The 2013 Freedom Rose has bright pink colour, with a touch of red brick, floral nose and light fruit character with nice acidity balanced with a touch of residual sweetness. Serve chilled.
The Story
In 2013, for the first time, Rosnay produced a Rose table wine without any sulfur dioxide to preserve it. It is made from 75% Shiraz and 25% Mourvedre, a late ripening Spanish red wine grape widely grown in the south of France. It is resistant to drought and disease, and makes a soft and rustic wine, ideal with earthy flavours of root vegetables, mushrooms, grilled meats, game and duck. The Shiraz give a rich, spicy palate and is traditionally a partner of Mourvedre.
The 2013 Freedom Rose is a simple “saigne” or “bleeding off” pink from the same tank as the red, just after crushing the grapes.
The wine is not made for ageing. Only a limited amount of this wine is produced each year to ensure that the wine is sold within 12 months of bottling.
