Former art historian, Andrew Greenhough and partner, marketing analyst, Jenny Wheeler consolidated their interest in wine when they bought a 13 year-old vineyard together with established winery in 1993. The vineyard was subsequently renamed Greenhough.
The vineyard is situated in Nelson whose damp climate has resulted in the adoption of traditional 'small vine' practices. They have found that these practices serve to dramatically improve fruit quality, a key priority at Greenhough. Fruit quality is also emphasised in the winery, where viniculture techniques are governed by cleanliness and fruit preservation.
“Our wines embody the essence of the grape variety; the concentration and structure that derives from the character of the vineyard and its management. They are a reflection of the highest quality fruit guided by the winemaking process”
