Blanc de blanc literally means "white from white", and in sparkling/champagne
terms it indicates that the wine is made from 100% chardonnay.
A medium gold sparkling with a delicate mousse and inviting aromas of lemon, quince
and a slight mintiness...or maybe fennel seed. The palate is dry and rich with citrus,
fig and warm spice. Leaves your mouth watering, wanting another sip. Grab a case

review »"The freshness lightness
and vigour in the fruit really reflect out of the wine’s character. Sparkling Rose
is an interesting variant and it comes off neatly here with classic flavours, crisp
fresh acidity and a dryness on the finish. Don’t expect lashings of sweet ripe fruit...instead
the subtleties of the wine is what does the talking" 87/100

review » Lightly sparkling, with
hints of strawberry and tropical fruit. Refreshing palate with a nice acid zing.
Match it with a bowl of summer berries. No excuse needed for some frivilous spring
& summer drinking.
The Not So Obvious Science of Fining (or why is there egg in my wine?) »
by Rich Bowden, October 2011
The practice of fining is widespread in Australian and New Zealand winemaking however
it is little understood by the average wine drinker. Fining involves using substances
that may be of concern to people with food allergies or those on
a vegetarian or vegan diet, and they may not be aware of the fact
that they are consuming animal material when they drink their favourite drop....

tasting notes from the winery » Emanating
from the glass is dark cherry, blond tobacco, fruit cake, blueberry, anise and a
hint of cinnamon. The palate is a burst of pure fruit complimented by subtle background
oak. It is dark, rich and full-bodied, yet elegant and sophisticated. There are
layers of fleshy red and black fruits together with floral notes. The fruit is balanced
by fine, slightly minerally tannins adding a seamless structured backbone.

Meet the winemaker interview with Joch Bosworth
by Debra Meiburg MW, September 2011
Joch Bosworth, the self professed "most hen-pecked man in McLaren Vale" chats to
Debra about the quirkiness of the Battle of Bosworth label -- the dual significance
of its name, plus the importance of the yellow flower (soursob) on the label and
in the winery...

This is a easy drinking wine. Sweet red berry fruit with hints of pepper and licorice
on the nose, the palate has soft tannins and raisiny fruit.

Tasting Packs $138- $275 + freight
This is a great way to sample some of the fabulous range of wines that we have to
offer at least cheaper than mixed case pricing. The packs are put
together with quality, value and variety in mind. The wines available in the packs
will change regularly as vintages come and go and as new exciting wines are discovered.
There are 6 packs to choose from.
Hochkirch 2008 Steinbruch Pinot $24
This is one of my favourite wines at the moment. And I'm not the only one, it is
found on some notable restaurant wine lists such as Rockpool &
Movida.
Moderately deep red colour with a rather lifted nose showing high notes of cherry
& dark plums with a lingering earthiness in front of subtle French
oak. Palate is all sweet red fruit and juicy acid leading to dark earthy flavours
and fine tannins with moderate length.
Hochkirch Pinots are made in a bold earthy rich burgundian style, quite different
to the light soft red fruit styles ofter found in New Zealand & Tasmania.
Biodynamic, low preservative, vegan & wild yeast ferment. What
more could you want!
How does the pricing work?
Each wine may have three different bottle prices depending on the quantity being
bought.
1. one plus btls in less than a case
» the standard undiscounted price for the wine
» still usually cheaper than the RRP at other retailers
2. mixed case
» order any combination of 12 or more wines from across our entire wine list
» you save about 5-6% on the standard price
3. straight case
» order a full case of the same wine to receive the best price
» in most instances a case of wine is 12 btls, except for a few of our more
expensive when it will be listed as 6 btls
» you save between 10-15% on the standard price
Tell me about delivery?
We deliver all over Australia at subsidised rates
as we want our wine to be accessible and affordable for all. The rate is the same
for one bottle as it is for a case of 12 bottles, so to minimise freight you should
order a case.
The main courier we use is Australia Post Eparcel, so delivery to PO Boxes is OK.
Their delivery timeframe is overnight into Melbourne and 2-5 working days for most
other parts of Australia. Wine is normally despatched twice a week on Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
Wine can be left in a safe place at your address if you are not present to accept
the delivery. If for some reason your delivery is delayed for more than a day or
two then you will be notified.
