review by organic wine june 2011 » The nose has an attractive herby fennel character and some mineral
hints. The fresh palate delivers with mouthwatering acid and lovely texture
with a bit of viscosity. Not all Sauv Blancs give you satisfaction in the middle
of winter, but this one has the palate weight & complexity from a couple of
years age to make it a worthy option. Don't serve it too cold, I tasted it at room
temperature and it was perfect.
tasting notes from battle of bosworth » That difficult second album? Not in the slightest.
This second release of our Battle of Bosworth Sauvignon Blanc has a nose of nettles,
spearmint and citrus (lemon and limes) with a hint of slate and maybe even soursobs
and leads smartly onto a fresh, crisp and clean finish.
winemaking notes »
Vintage 2009 A very dry winter was followed by a hot January which segued
into a dry, mild conclusion to vintage. Small crops of both whites and reds were
the result of dry conditions in winter and the preceding 3-4 years. In the case
of the red varieties, the longer you waited for them the better they got.
Winemaking: Grapes were picked early at just on 11° Beaumé, gently
pressed and then taken through a slow, cool ferment. A very small amount of free
run went straight to barrel (new French) for a barrel ferment to add complexity.

Soft, dreamy merlot
Tinja's preservative-free organic merlot has soft, juicy black fruit and supple
tannins. After the success of their wonderfully full-flavoured, slurpy 2009 preservative-free
merlot, the winemakers at Lowe in Mudgee, central NSW, decided to repeat the exercise
in 2010. This wine is, if anything, even better than its predecessor: it has plenty
of merlot’s tradmark soft, juicy black fruit and supple tannin, but it’s not too
full-bodied – exactly the kind of easy-going red that goes well with a range of
different foods.

Full bodied & bold
A couple of years ago, organic winegrower Joch Bosworth was, like many of his colleagues,
sceptical about not adding sulphur to his wines; like other grape-treaders he believed
Sulphur dioxide (SO2) was an essential addition to prevent the wine going off. Then
he tasted a delicious preservative-free red and decided to try it out for himself.
The result is this full-bodied, bold, black-fruity shiraz with spicy, dried-herbal
complexity and tongue-hugging tannin. Take a bottle to your next barbecue.
