This vintage of German Riesling is, as always, excellent. There are slight variations from year to year, however Brogsitter have not failed to produce another vintage of wine that we love. To pour, this wine is a gorgeous pale straw colour. It is clear and appealing. There is a hint of spritz in the glass, this will dissipate over time. On the nose there are notes of tropical fruit and orange peel, this is backed up by hints of marzipan and the slight bitterness of marmalade. To taste, the wine is initially sweet with fresh iced tea flavour, there is a well-balanced minerally acid which cuts through and adds depth and some dryness. There are the same hints of marzipan and marmalade as well as some citrus flavours -in particular, perfectly ripe mandarin.
The Story
Minerally, crisp and so unique with a pure-toned fruitiness and finesse that the "king of white wines" and with only 12% alcohol are thus perfect summer wines.Our vineyards, on the extremely steep slopes of the Mosel Mitel, need to be carefully worked by hand and with winches. But the landscape provides the ideal growing environment for our Riesling, clay soils over Devonian slate. It is a unique terroir that brings the best of this German vine to light.
