Tasting Notes:
Magenta in colour with purple hues, the Yalumba Organic Shiraz 2011 is bursting with varietal aromas of plums and violets, sweet fruit with a forest floor finish. On the palate the aromas continue through to the palate with plums and violets joined by peppercorns and spice. This is a fruit driven, medium bodied wine with fine, soft tannins and a savoury, persistent finish.
Awards, Reviews & Accolades:
"This was my favourite of the three, with a medium bodied generosity. It has a rich and heady mix of black fruit and spice, a mix of cumin and Sichuan pepper, as well as touch of vanillin oak. I like the way it offers easy drinking of smoky plum and chocolate but is backed up by surprising complexity and a glossy mouthfeel. There’s something about this that made me go back and pour myself another glass. Maybe it was the organics talking, telling me how good it was for me." Background, Vintage and Winemaker Notes:
Viticulture: Located on the Murray River at Loxton, the Barich Family have a beautiful organic vineyard that produces some wonderful Viognier. They have been joined in the 2011 Vintage by the Bassham Family of Barmera who have been producing Viognier of a high quality for Yalumba for some time but have only recently been certified organic. Meticulous hand-detailed work in both vineyards ensures that the grapes are in perfect condition when they are picked.

Vintage: After years of drought, the weather changed this vintage and South Australia experienced a cool and wet season that was a challenge for all. Through meticulous care in the vineyards and without compromising their organic principles, our organic Shiraz growers again produced grapes that had great flavours.
